About the product

FUELSTAT Fuel Contamination Test Kits offers an innovative solution for testing diesel fuel, detecting microbial contamination, and addressing water content issues that lead to the growth of the diesel bug in boats and fuel storage tanks. The FUELSTAT testing kit utilises immunoassay antibodies to rapidly diagnose the presence of harmful diesel bug, which can cause sludge build-up and engine filter blockages. Designed for immediate use wherever fuel is stored or used, this diesel fuel contamination test kit provides reliable and accurate results within just 15 minutes.

FUELSTAT diesel bug tests are significantly faster than other market fuel tests, as they can take up to 72 hours. The easy-to-read alert levels are captured in a digital report via the app. No additional equipment is needed—just a single FUELSTAT diesel fuel testing kit per test, which can be conducted by an individual with minimal training, and only requires 4 drops of fuel.

Over 400 customers in the commercial aviation industry have tried and tested the fuel test kit as well as over 10 major oil companies.

So, how does the diesel bug test work? It only takes 3 easy steps!

The diesel fuel is tested by putting 4 drops into each of the 6 test wells supplied in the fuel test kit. Once the fuel has been tested, the user scans the kit with the FUELSTAT result app on their smartphone. A full analysis report can then be viewed and downloaded from the FUELSTAT Portal app. Past test results can be viewed to compare fuel quality at different times.

Features of the FUELSTAT Fuel Contamination Test Kit:

  • Only 4 drops of diesel fuel is needed for test
  • Clear results within 15 minutes
  • Unique immunoassay antibody technology
  • Detects diesel bug microorganisms that damage fuel
  • Test can be carried out on site.
  • Avoids time delays and expense as no need to transport to laboratory

How does a FUELSTAT Fuel Test Kit work when testing diesel?

FUELSTAT works similarly to a pregnancy test, but instead of checking for human hormones, it looks for markers of harmful microorganisms in fuel systems. These microorganisms can cause problems like clogging filters, interfering with fuel tank probes, and even corrosion.

What does a FUELSTAT fuel contamination kit test for?

A FUELSTAT Fuel Contamination Test Kit uses antigens developed as markers for key microorganisms and microbes known to contaminate diesel fuel when present, such as bacteria, fungi (yeasts and moulds and hormoconis resinae.

This diesel fuel contamination test detects spores that have activated and have started germinating, which means there is nutrients in the fuel to create diesel bug, which typically means the fuel contains water.

How often should I test my diesel with a FUELSTAT Fuel Contamination Kit?

Testing your diesel fuel every 12 months is advised, however, in hotter areas where fuel is stored in humid conditions, testing for microbial contamination every 3 months is recommended. Catching diesel bug and fuel contamination from water as early as possible is the cheapest and easiest solution to the problem, with prevention being the best solution by removing water as soon as possible.

How do I use the FUELSTAT Fuel Contamination Test Kit?

FUELSTAT is an easy-to-use product specifically designed for anyone in the industry that uses fuel equipment with minimal training. Each FUELSTAT test kit comes with comprehensive printed instructions. For more details, click on the video tab on this page for a step-by-step instructional video.

What should I do if diesel bug is found in my fuel?

The solution depends upon the extent of the diesel bug problem. If you have a bad case then your fuel may need to be removed and be put through a fuel polishing system. The presence of diesel bug means there is water in your fuel, so it is a good idea to take some future preventative measures such as installing a CTS fuel recirculation unit or an Aquafighter.
